Leon Ashley Obituary

Carver Leon T. Ashley, of Carver, formerly of Sanford, Maine, and Plymouth, passed away July 25, at the age of 86. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Parkhurst); and is survived by his loving children, his son, David of Carver; his daughter, Joyce Ashley of Plymouth; and his stepchildren, Gary Grant of South Portland, Maine, and Linda Zahner of Walpole. He also leaves his sister, Mary L. Ashley of Raynham; and several grandchildren. Leon graduated from Taunton High School in 1940 and attended a technical school in Boston. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Bronze Star. Mr. Ashley was a member and past master of the Plymouth Lodge, a member the Shriners, past district deputy Grand Master to the 18 Masonic District, a member of the Plymouth School Committee and the Plymouth Charter Committee. Leon was an electronics technician and part owner of Samoset TV and worked for DeCost TV, the Foxboro Company and had worked in the fire towers in Hanson and Norwell. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 28, at the First Baptist Church in Plymouth at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Vine Hills Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St. (Rte. 3A), North Plymouth, Sunday, July 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Angel Fund, c/o Plymouth Lodge, P.O. Mr. Ashley,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
