Augusta Waters Obituary

Carver Augusta L. Babe Waters, 87, of Carver, died Aug. 11, 2008, in Jordan Hospital in Plymouth, after being stricken very suddenly. She was born in New Brunswick, Canada, daughter of the late Augustus and Bertha (Edgett) Waters and was raised and educated in Boston. Miss Waters was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the WAVES in World War II. She retired in 1983 after a 35-year career with the New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. She had been a longtime Hanover resident and had made her home in Carver since 1980. She was an active volunteer for the Plymouth Council on Aging for many years, in addition, she was a member of the Pilgrim Chapter-Order of the Eastern Star, Telephone Pioneers of America and was formerly an active member of the Church Hill United Methodist Church in Norwell. Augusta was currently a member and active participant in the United Parish in Carver. A funeral will be held in the United Parish in Carver, 115 Main St. (Rte. 58), Thursday at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Bruce Bardon officiating. Burial will follow in Hanover Center Cemetery. Calling hours in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St., Rockland, will be Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. For directions or to sign online guest book, www.magounbiggins.com.

Ms. Waters,
Maam, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USN during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Gussie was a good friend and a fellow Telephone Pioneer who will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to know her. She'll especially be missed at the Plymouth Council on Aging.
