Joseph G. Wilson Jr.

WHITMAN Joseph G. Wilson Jr., 74, of Whitman, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, in Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of 52 years to Elizabeth (Reade) Wilson of Whitman. Joseph was born and educated in Boston, a son of the late Joseph G. and Helena M. (Whooley) Wilson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and a member of the VFW Boston and the Knights of Columbus No. 98 in West Roxbury. Joseph was a resident of Whitman for 48 years and worked for the Whitman DPW Water Department for 30 years, before retiring in 1999. In addition to his wife Elizabeth of 52 years, he is survived by his children, Stephen of Milford, Daniel of Florida, Michael of Whitman, Kathryn Spratt of North Carolina, Joseph of Whitman, Robert of Lowell, John and Mark, of Whitman; his sister, Barbara Fowkes of Bridgewater; also 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew. He funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 10, at 9:15 a.m. from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary), Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman.
