Leslie Mills Obituary

AVON Leslie C. Mills, 86, a resident of Avon for the past 39 years, died Sept. 20, 2008, at New England Sinai Hospital, in Stoughton, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Dorothy (Taylor) Mills for 59 years. Born in Thorofare, Newfoundland, Feb. 25, 1922, a son of the late John and Caroline (Mills) Mills, he came to the United States at the age of 3, was raised in Somerville, and was a graduate of Cambridge Technical High and Latin. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army as a private. Leslie worked as a carpenter and was employed by the Carpenters Union Local No. 275 of Newton. He enjoyed fishing and traveling with his wife. In addition to his wife Dorothy, he is survived by four children, Leslie Mills Jr. and his wife Michelle of Avon, Brian Mills and his wife Dona of Foxboro, Cheryl Bowman of Avon and Bruce Mills and his wife Tracy of Bridgewater; three sisters, Jean Loveless and her husband Brenton of Arlington, Joyce Toby and her husband Walter and Diane McDonough, all of Massachusetts; two brothers, John Mills Jr. and his wife Virginia of New Hampshire and Gerry Mills and his wife Denise of Massachusetts; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Gail Mills and brother of the late Vincent Mills and Joan Crowell. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial gathering Saturday from 1-3 p.m. in the Kane Funeral Home, 605 Washington St. (Rte. 138), Easton, followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leslies memory may be sent to Childrens Hospital Trust, 1 Autumn St., Dept. 731, Boston, MA. 02215.
