James Ballas Obituary

BROCKTON James J. Ballas, 60, a resident of Brockton for the past 30 years, died Friday at Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, in Brockton, after a brief illness. Born in New York, N.Y., July 21, 1948, a son of Gus Ballas of York, Pa., and the late Dorothy (Winters) Ballas, he was raised and educated in Astoria, N.Y., and was a graduate of Long Island City High School. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served as a private during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a mechanic for British Airways Overseas Mechanics. He later worked for the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, in Brockton, as a patient care attendant. In addition to his father, he is survived by his sisters, Barbara Bravener of Bolivia, N.C., and Irene Smith of Keystone Heights, Fla.; and nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a graveside service with military honors in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Wednesday, at 2 p.m. Arrangements are by the Kane Funeral Home, 605 Washington St. (Rte. 138), Easton. My old friend Jimmy i remember his laugh and his sense of humor he told me about his time in Vietnam he was a great freind i know he knows I got my 100 percent service connected disabled from the v.a. later Jimmy
