Janice Cameron Obituary

BRIDGEWATER Janice Patricia (Shaffer) Cameron, of Bridgewater, passed away Oct. 19, at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital, with her husband and four children present. She was age 72. Born in Cumberland, Md., Janice attended high school in Venezuela and earned a bachelor's degree from Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa. While raising four children, Janice worked at Daiker's Flowers in Bridgewater and Home Health and Childcare in Brockton. Janice enjoyed time with her family, the Red Sox and visits to loved ones in Ocean City, Md., and Las Vegas. Janice is survived by her husband of 47 years, Edward C. Cameron Sr. of Bridgewater; devoted mother of Eddie Cameron Jr. of Newburyport, Ellen Olive Cameron-Ficarrotta of Henderson, Nev., Edith Ann Cameron of Taunton and Amy Grace Cameron-Bennett of Raynham; loving mother-in-law to Susanne Marzi Cameron of Newburyport, Frank Ficarrotta of Henderson, Nev., and John Bennett of Raynham; proud Nana of Bladen, Sallyann and Frankie Ficarrotta of Henderson, Nev., Christian Bennett of Raynham, Hunter Campbell of Taunton and Anna Li and Lucy Huan Cameron of Newburyport. Janice was a daughter of the late Boyd Shaffer and Olive Ellen (Ivory) Shaffer and daughter-in-law to the late John P. Cameron and Ada Cameron Smudin; sister-in-law to Grace (Cameron) Balboni of Maine, Albert Trocchi of Sheffield, Margie Cameron of Texas; and cousin to Shirley Douglas of Maryland. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Visiting hours will be held Saturday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater. Interment will be private in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, please tell a relative or friend that you love them. Prophett-Chapman Cole & Gleason 508-697-4332

When I was 7 years old, I wrote in your birthday card "to a half good - half bad mother". You probably had done something drastic like made me eat green beans. I take it all back (as you knew about 39 years ago).

You were a 100% good mother! Thanks for being a wonderful mother for us all.

I haven't seen Janice in a long time but I never forgot her. Even now when I read a good book, I think "Janice would like this book"" and wish I lived close enough to get it to her. She and I once played Password, just the two of us, and we played cards, but mostly I remember her love of reading and our talks about the books we read.
