Robert McGourthy Obituary

PLYMOUTH Robert D. McGourthy, died Oct. 22, 2008. Born Oct. 29, 1928, in Boston, he was a son of the late David G. and Marion I. (Nash) McGourthy. He was a graduate of Quincy High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1950 to 1952. He worked for Boston Edison for 37 years. He married Claire L. Kruse on July 23, 1949, in Seabrook, N.H., and she survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Susan (Arthur) Hemmings of Plymouth, Lora (James) Botte of Plymouth, Linda (Robert) Diaz of Marion and Lisa McGourthy of Plymouth; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Private burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Autism Speaks, 5455 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 2250, Los Angeles, CA 90036. www.nickersonbournefuneralhome.com.

Mr. McGourthy,
Sir, as a fellow Marine I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USMC during the Korean War. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
