MAHONEY Edward J. Jr., of Avon, age 78, Aug. 21, beloved husband of Mary F. (Smith); loving father of Michael (and his wife Dona) of Manomet and the late David; dear grandfather of Christopher, Ryan (and his wife Kate) and Sara; great-grandfather of Caitlyn; brother of Mary Pederzani; uncle of Peter Pederzani, Jane Tardy and Karen O'Reilly, all of Plymouth. Calling hours Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Funeral Friday at 8 a.m. from Waitt Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Michael Church and burial at St. Michael Cemetery in Avon. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Michael Church, 87 North Main St., Avon, MA 02322, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org).
