Paul Fay Obituary

Rockland Paul F. Fay, 74 died on July 15, 2008 at his home in Rockland surrounded by his family and cared for by Old Colony Hospice. Paul was a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer having served in the submarine service aboard the USS Nautilus, USS Pecuna, USS Sea Robin and the USS Carp. He had extensive world wide service in a naval career that spanned from end of World War II to the Vietnam War. He was born in Quincy son of the late Leo A. and Helen M. (King) Fay and was raised and educated in Hull. He has made his home in Rockland for the past 40 years. After his retirement from the Navy he held many positions including serving in the maintenance department of the New England Conservatory in Boston, providing security for the Gillette Co. and owning and operating his own businesses the Green Derby Restaurant in S. Boston and Rockland Pool Supply on Union St. in Rockland. Paul retired from the maintenance department of the Rockland Public Schools in 1995 after 10 years of service. He was active in softball leagues in Southie and was known for his volunteer spirit. He was a member of the Top 3 Military Retirees, Rockland Post 1788 VFW, Post 50, American Legion in Rockland, USV-VE Post in Rockland, Old Colony Post DAV in Rockland, Rockland Council #165 Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge # 2232 in S. Weymouth, Rockland Aerie of Eagles and the Rockland Lions Club. He is survived by his wife Kathleen A. (Geraghty) Fay, his children Paul F. Fay, Jr. of Hanover, Christopher M. McKinnon of Canton, Megan M. Richardson of Brockton and Daniel J. Fay of Rockland. He was the brother of Leo K. Fay and Jacqueline Lamantia of Fl., Rosemary Angeramo of Peabody and the late Mary E. Betty Fay and Patricia K. Rockett. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street ROCKLAND on Saturday July 19, 2008 at 8:15 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow in Holy Family Church at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
