Lena Pica Obituary

Quincy Lena M. (Molinaro) Pica, of Quincy, passed away at Quincy Medical Center on Friday, August 1, 2008 at age 97. A homemaker, she was born in Avellino, Italy. She came to America at age 2 and lived all of her life in Quincy where she was known as the "Candy Lady" because of her homemade candies. Lena was Past President of Torre Dei Passeri Social Club and St Ann's Italian Women's Club and was Past Sub Chief Companion of the Catholic Foresters of America. Beloved wife of the late Luigi Pica. Beloved mother of Elizabeth Trubiano of Randolph and dear grandmother of Francis Trubiano of Marshfield, Louis Trubiano of Canton, Ellen Donaghey of Plymouth and Linda Silvia of Walpole and is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Lena was the sister of Peter Molinaro, Salvatore, Thomas and Francis Nigro, all of Quincy and the late Emil, Frank, William and Jennie Nigro, Elizabeth Corini, Mary Moscone, Mary Mariano and Julia Hanson. Her funeral will be from the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. (off Hancock St), Quincy Center on Tuesday, August 5 at 10 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial is in Mount Wollaston Cemetery. Donations in Lena's memory may be made to St. John the Baptist Church 21 Gay St. Quincy, MA 02169.
