Arthur Newell Obituary

BRAINTREE Arthur Ambrose Newell, 89 years of age, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 7, 2008. He was born in Randolph and had been a long time resident of Braintree. He was a Special Services Safety Education Officer for the Registry of Motor Vehicle in Boston where he was employed for 30 years prior to his retirement in 1981. In his earlier years he had been a welder for the Fore River Ship Yard and the Watertown Arsenal. He had also been employed as a foreman for the Garland Auto Body Company in Rockland. In addition he had been employed at Wiggins Airways at the Norwood Airport and had been a truck driver for the Boston Sand and Gravel Company. He was a member of the Massachusetts Safety Officers League for more than 25 years. He had served in the Marine Corp. He was the husband of the late Grace E. (Kempton) Newell who died in 1999. He is survived by a daughter Donna R. Walsh married to Ronald C. Walsh of Braintree and by a son Kenneth J. Newell of Florida. Arthur was the father of the late Eugene A. Newell and Sandra R. Newell. He is survived by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was the son of the late Ambrose A. Newell and Angelina (Pariseau) Newell. A Funeral Service will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck- Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, BRAINTREE on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Robert Killeffer, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Braintree will officiate. Burial will be at Blue Hill Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Memorial Donations may be sent to the First Baptist Church of Braintree, 594 Washington Street, Braintree, MA 02184.

We are sorry to hear of Arthur's passing. The times we talked with him , his stories of Braintree and the old pictures of Braintree he had shared with us were so interesting. We spoke of him and them often.
He was a nice man and know he is with the Lord now.
