Clara Battista Obituary

QUINCY Clara H. (Lorito) Battista, of Quincy, died Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after a brief illness. Mrs. Battista was born in Quincy, and was raised and educated in Quincy schools. She graduated from Quincy High School and was a lifelong Quincy resident. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Battista was an active parishioner at Saint John the Baptist Church in Quincy where she sang in the Saint Johns Choir and belonged to the Ladies Sodality. Beloved wife of Albert Battista of Quincy. Devoted mother of Ernest J. Battista of Norwell, Ellen J. Battista-Lerro and her husband Robert of Braintree, Russell A. Battista and his wife Theresa of Lexington, and the late Kenneth A. Battista. Loving grandmother of Michael and Marc Battista and loving step-grandmother of Vanessa and Roseanna Lerro. Sister of Elba M. McDonald of Quincy, the late Florence M. Cantelli, the late John N. Lorito, and the late L. Joe Lorito. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, One Independence Avenue, Quincy, Monday, October 6th at 9:15 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School St., Quincy at 10:00 oclock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-6 p.m. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

About 1950 i remember Mrs. Battista when she was a young married woman and married to Mr. Battista, i believe he was in the dental field. They lived on the corner of Taber and Liberty St. in South Quincy,on the second floor. Mrs Battista was beautiful with black long hair.
