Jean Noblin RANDOLPH Jean MacLeod Noblin beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away on October 4, 2008 at the age of 86 after a long battle with Alzheimers disease. She was the daughter of the late General Ralph E. MacLeod and Grace MacDonald MacLeod. To the Noblin Family: I had the honor of knowing Jean as my faculty advisor for the Intramural Drama Festival at RHS, from 74-78. She always brought good cheer and fair play to her work, and inspired in people a greater compassion and moralism without ever preaching. I was honored to work with her and to know her! Her work lives on in more than one generation of students.

So sorry to hear about Jean's passing. She was my English teacher way back when, and she was so enthusiastic. She used to sing Shaker songs to us and to this day I still remember them.

She was truly one of the best teachers I ever had, and I think of her often when I'm teaching my English classes.

Dear John, Cheryl, and family,
Memories are what we embrace most of all. John, I remember you speaking of your mother many times in regards to her personal struggle with Alzheimers Disease. I recall your feelings of love, concern, and devotion for your Mother. Mrs. John Noblin's documented accomplishments speaks for itself: academic achievements and an educator has, indeed, transcended into love, respect, and admiration from countless who met her in their own personal journeys.

I still am amazed at how much she shaped my own values and ideas. While I know you are all deeply saddened by her passing, I am certain that her spirit remains a vital influence in the lives of all who knew her.

Donna and Mac,
so sorry to hear about your loss. I have read some of the entries and you folks are so fortunate that Mac's Mom touched so many people. I remember in the early days of the B-water Dodgers she would attend some of our games. It always reminded me of being in high school with our parents as fans. I am sure it was special to you Mac. She truly was a wonderful woman. Hope to see you guy's soon.

To Jean's family:

My deepest sympathies to you on your loss.

Jean was my English teacher and a fellow soloist in the church choir--although no one could possibly compete with that soaring soprano voice!

Although it has been over 30 years since I last sat in her classroom, my memories of that wonderful time remain. Her hilarious stories about her friend Art Buchwald, her insight, her wit--I continue to think about those things to this day; and I truly cherish the memory of the irrepressible woman she was.

I count myself very, very fortunate to have been educated by her--and to have known her.

I am deeply saddened by your loss.

God bless you -- and God bless Jean.

As the days draw nearer toward my trip home to Randolph for Thanksgiving and my 35th high school reunion next month, I have spent much time reflecting on those most wonderful years at RHS and the friends and teachers who have had a significant impact on my life. Therefore it was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Mrs. Noblin. Whether it was in her English classroom or in the stands at the baseball field, she was one of my most influential teachers and staunchest supporters. And even for years after graduation, whenever I would bump into her during a school visit, a store, or at adult league baseball games she attended when I played against Mac, she maintained the same exuberance in sharing life’s updates and watching me play as she displayed back when she was teaching me about those great English poets and how to write a lead to a sports story. As proud as she was of the hundreds – if not thousands – of students who benefitted from her teachings, I know she was most proud of her family. To you, Mac, and the rest of your family, my heartfelt sympathies and know that your mom and all of you are in my thoughts from 3,000 miles away. “And she was fair as is the rose in May.” – Geoffrey Chaucer

My heartfelt condolences to the Noblin Family. Mrs. Noblin was truly a special person. The best educator I ever had by a wide margin. Whether we were studying Shakespeare, Beowolf, or Chaucer's tales her enthusiasm and passion for teaching was unparalleled. She stood up for what she believed. She was an inspiration to me and so many of the students who had the pleasure of learning in her classroom.

Janet and Mack,
I am saddened to learn of your mother's passing. She was the ultimate teacher; she showed everyone she taught respect and was my role model for becoming a teacher. She was the Banner advisor on the eventful 1964 Banner/Oracle trip to New York/Columbia U Press Conference. Then she was a colleague in the RTA/REA. I will always remember her for her kindness, warmth, incredible wit and intelligence, and yes, for Chaucer's Canterbury Tales!!! May God bless her and all of her family.

To The Noblin Family:

Mrs. Noblin was one of my favorite teachers at RHS. Her memory will forever be in my heart as one of the most gentlest, kindest teachers ever. I recently was thinking about her as I was remembering the good ol' days at RHS. She was an absolutely intelligent lady who always talked to me about her family especially Mackey who my father knew as a member of the Randolph Oilers. Mrs. Noblin was always there cheering her son on. It was always a pleasure seeing her. May God Bless you all in these hours of sorrow, may the wonderful memories of your mother live on forever and ever.
