M. Donelin Obituary

M. Catherine Donelin QUINCY M. Catherine Kay (McLay) Donelin, of Quincy passed away at home on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at age 86. Beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Donelin, she is the beloved mother of Paul Donelin of Fallon, NV, Barbara Donelin and her partner Judy Abbruzzese of Quincy, Kathleen Ceurvels and her husband Joseph of Quincy, Janet Hanlon and her husband Peter of Sandwich and Kevin Donelin, QFD and his wife Debbie of Quincy and the loving grandmother of 8 grandchildren, Jessie Kwong and her husband Lawrence of Weymouth, Kathryn Ceurvels and her fiance Johnathan Diggin of Walpole, PFC Joseph Ceurvels, USMC, Michael, Bryan and Jennifer Donelin, all of Quincy and Patrick Hanlon and Peter Hanlon, Jr., both of Sandwich. Kay was the sister of Thomas D. McLay of Honey Brook, PA and the late Leo McLay and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A US Navy veteran, WWII, Kay served in the Office of the Vice Chief of Naval Operations in Washington DC from 1943 to 1946. She worked for the Telephone Co. at Harrison Ave. in Boston, was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary's Church and volunteered for a time at St. Mary's School. A past member of the Women's Koch Club Bowling League, Mary was an avid crossword lover, reader, homemaker and a great cook, who, above all, was a loving mother and grandmother. Her funeral will be from the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm St. Quincy Center on Thursday, October 9 at 9:00am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church at 10:00am. Family and friends are invited. Visiting hours are on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00pm. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Barbara~ How ironic that, as I opened the site at Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home to see if my own mother's obit was displayed yet (she died this morning) I should see your mother's listed!

I am so deeply sorry to share such a terrible sadness with you right now.

I was looking for you this past summer to be part of a St Mary School reunion of our class. Please contact me as we plan to do it again. I am so very sorry that it comes with such loss to us both to possibly reconnect.
