Alice Lonergan Obituary

WHITMAN Alice T. Lonergan 99, died Monday October 6th after a period of failing health. Born in Whitman she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Delia (Cullen) Lonergan. She was a life long resident of Whitman, and was a graduate of Whitman High School Class of 1927. She worked for the New England Telephone Company for over 40 years and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Alice was an active member of the Holy Ghost Parish of Whitman and a member of the Ladies Sodality and the Mass. Catholic Womens Guild. She was also a longtime volunteer at the Cardinal Cushing Hospital. She is survived by her sisters Catherine Luddy of Whitman and Anastasia Huntington of Holbrook, as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. The family of Alice would like to thank the caregivers and friends of Colony House Nursing and Rehab for their compassion and outstanding care over the past years. Her services will be held Thursday Oct. 9th at 9:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a mass at 10 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday Oct 8th from 4-8 PM.
