Ruth Saunders Obituary

Ruth Saunders QUINCY Ruth (Vonder Ahe) Saunders October 9, 2008, age 88, of Quincy. Ruth was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, she moved to the Wollaston and Squantum sections of Quincy 62 years ago. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Wollaston for over 50 years. In addition to many meals and fundraisers and events at the Church, Ruth served as leader of Girl Scout Troop #9, president of the Mothers Club and president of the Hilltoppers Club. Ruth also delivered Meals on Wheels for South Shore Elder Services, volunteered at the Pantry Shelf for the Interfaith Social Services and was an event coordinator for the Cincinnati area U.S.O. Beloved mother of Susan Shack of Quincy and Victoria Saunders and her boyfriend Rick LaFratta of Quincy. Loving grandmother of Craig Benson of Quincy. Ruth was pre-deceased by her former husband, the late Vernon Carl Saunders. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 14th at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Wollaston, 81 Prospect Avenue, Quincy. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Deware Funeral Home, 576 Hancock Street, WOLLASTON. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Ruths memory to Meals on Wheels program at South Shore Elder Services, 159 Bay State Drive, Braintree, MA 02184 or to The First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 81 Prospect Avenue, Wollaston, MA 02170. I am so sorry to hear of Ruth's passing. She always had a smile and a word of caring for me and my family. I feel blessed to have known her. She will truly be missed.
