Mary Fitzgerald Obituary

Mary Fitzgerald MILTON Mary F. Fitzgerald, wife of the late William J. Fitzgerald, died October 13, 2008 at her home in Milton, surrounded by her family. She was the devoted mother of Maryellen Fitzgerald and her husband, Richard Ng of Milton, Redmond S. Fitzgerald of Milton, William J. Fitzgerald, Jr. and his wife, Kathleen M. Fitzgerald of Milton, Dorothy E. Parker and her husband, John R. Parker of Westboro, and Patrick F. Fitzgerald and his wife, Eileen S. Fitzgerald of Milton. She was the loving grandmother of 15 grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. An admired resident of Milton for the past 60 years, she also leaves many cherished friends. She lived a life of devotion and dedication to her Catholic faith, her family, friends and community. A daily communicant at the local parishes, she was guided by her profound Catholic faith. As her health failed, she treasured her daily visits from her neighbors, The Oblates of the Virgin Mary. Her life was that of the true mother and grandmother. Her love was unconditional. Her attitude was always positive and encouraging. Those who knew her were blessed because she was a special person. She was the silent strength that held everything together. She was a great mentor who taught by her example. Always the hard worker and never the complainer, no challenge was too great for her to achieve. She inspired many people during her exemplary life; from local merchants to accomplished professionals who appreciated her integrity and perseverance. Her courage, the strength of her convictions, and her will to overcome all challenges will be remembered forever. She provided commitment and service to her Catholic faith and community. She served on the Board of Directors of the League of Catholic Women, as an officer of the Fontbonne Academy Mothers' Guild, a member of St. Mary of the Hills Ladies Society, Milton Academy Parents' Association, St. Agatha School Parent Association, and Milton Women's Club. Also as a member of The Proparvulis Club, she worked to support Camp Sunset Point for less fortunate children. She dedicated numerous volunteer hours to both Milton Hospital and Carney Hospital. These contributions enriched her life and the lives of others. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the family residence, 45 Father Carney Drive, Milton on Friday, October 17 at 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Milton on Saturday, October 18 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Milton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's honor to: Ms. Ann Cahill, President, c/o The Proparvulis Club, "For the Little Ones", 1372 Brush Hill Road, Building H, Milton, MA 02186 or The Alliance for Children Foundation, 55 William Street, Suite G-10, Wellesley, MA 02481. One of God's greatest gifts is the willingness to help others. After reading about Mary I was overwhelmed by this extraordinary woman's passion to help those less fortunate. Through her faith she impacted so many people's lives and I wish I had the chance to know her. Her legacy will follow her and hopefully spread in us all. God Bless her.
