Sooren Narekian

Sooren Narekian QUINCY Sooren Narekian, 97 years of age, of the Wollaston section of Quincy, passed away at his home on Tuesday evening, October 14, 2008. He was born at Gurin, Armenia and came to the United States at the age of five years. He resided in Dorchester before moving to Wollaston in 1953. He was a graduate of the Dorchester High School. He was the retired owner of Nishan's Market in the Ashmont section of Dorchester. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church of Cambridge. He was the husband of the late Helen (Pilibosian) Narekian who died in 1963. Sooren is the loving father of Thomas S. Narekian of Naples, Florida and Anita S. Harrington of Braintree. He is the father-in-law of George Happas of Quincy. He is the devoted grandfather of Susan Petrilli married to Michael Petrilli of Braintree, Stephen Happas married to Tammy Happas of Braintree, Derek Happas of Braintree, Kim Coveno married to James Coveno of Winchester, Nicole Narekian of Salem and Thomas Narekian, Jr. of Winchester. Great-grandfather of Anita, Kimberly, Mikaela, Lexi, Jett, Jessica, Mia and Sofie. Uncle of Henry Zeytoonjian and Edward Zeytoonjian, Jr. He was the brother of the late Arsen Narekian and Armen Zeytoonjian. Funeral from the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washingron St., BRAINTREE, on Friday, October 17 at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, 145 Brattle St., Cambridge at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Brighton. A reception will be held at the church following the burial. Relatives and friends invited.
