Edward Chambers Obituary

QUINCY Edward V. Chambers, of Quincy, October 15, 2008 formerly of South Boston and Dorchester. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy L. (Messina) Chambers. Loving Step dad of John E. Messina of Holbrook and the Late William M. Messina, dear brother of the late Charles Chambers, Arthur Chambers and Alice F. Jenkins, Brother- in-law of William Jenkins of Dorchester, devoted uncle of Marie, Adam, Kathy, Lisa, Deirdre, Carol, Brian, Charlie, Helen, Joanne and Paul, cherished grandfather of William, Robert, Brian, Michael, Kerry, John, Karen, and the late Mark also lovingly survived by 11 great-grandchildren and several great-nieces and nephews. Edward was born and raised in South Boston before moving to Dorchester and Quincy. He was a graduate of South Boston High School. Edward worked for Local #17 Sheet Metal Worker Union for several years and for the last 20 years of his career he worked for the M.B.T.A. in Everett and Boston. Ed was an avid golfer and was a longtime member of Presidents Golf Club. He enjoyed Ballroom Dancing and Ice Skating. Edward was a life long sports fan and loved watching the Red Sox and Patriots games. He was member of the Castle Island Associates. He loved spending time with his family and will be sadly missed by all who loved him. Edward was a proud WWII Navy Veteran. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Life Celebration Service in Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Monday at 9:15 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint Ann's Church, Wollaston at 10:00 a.m. Visiting hours Sunday 2 - 6 p.m. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Donations in memory of Mr. Chambers may be made to Norwell Visiting Nurses Assoc., 91 Longwater Circle, Norwell, MA 02061. Mr. Chambers,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USN during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
