Edward Drane Obituary

BRAINTREE Edward L. Drane, 88, of Braintree, died October 18, 2008 at the John Scott Nursing Home in Braintree. Beloved husband of Mary R. (McLaughlin). Loving father of Susan McMann and Kathleen Pronk, both of Marshfield, Margaret Johnson of Braintree, Edward L. Drane, Jr. of Plymouth and Michael Drane of Lakeville. Brother of Mary Brauer and Isabelle Wolf, both of FL and the late Arthur and Bart Drane. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 3 great-granchildren. Born and raised in Boston he had lived in Braintree for the past 52 years. Mr. Drane was a WWII Army Veteran and had been a member of the Braintree Knights of Columbus. He had worked as the Scale Shop manager for the town of Braintree for 20 years retiring in 1986. Prior to that he had worked for the Boston Fish Pier Company for 35 years. Funeral from the McMaster Funeral Home, 86 Franklin St. (Rt. 37) Braintree, Tuesday, October 21 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in the Church of St. Clare, 1244 Liberty St., Braintree Highlands at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit the Funeral Home Monday 4 - 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in his name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, MA Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472. Interment VA National Cemetery in Bourne.

Mr. Drane,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort. I remember how faithful all of your family was in the visits to the nursing home, and the loving care you all gave to your husband and dad. My wife was there for a year on the same floor, until her death in AUG, 2007. God bless each of you.
