Joseph McDonough Obituary

MASHPEE Joseph Joe T. McDonough, 78, of Mashpee, died Monday, October 20, 2008 in Mashpee after a brief illness. He was the husband of Gertrude L. McDonough for 56 years. Born in Melrose, Joe graduated from Malden Catholic High School. He worked for 39 years with Verizon. He spent 24 years with the National Guard and was a member of the American Legion for 20 years. He was a former Marshfield Little League Coach. He resided in Mashpee for 10 years. Joe was extremely active within the Southport community, which included organizer and record keeper of the Southport Golf League; organizer, judge and first champion of the Southport Billiards Tournament; and instructor of computer basics for fellow residents. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Joseph Jr . and wife, Jodi; Nancy and partner Robert Fernandes; Cheryl Tirrell and husband, Warren; Paul; and John and wife, Suzanne. His grandchildren, Joseph III, Judy, Jason, Adam, Erin, Jasmine and Samantha. A Visitation will be held Saturday, October 25, from 9:00 11:00AM in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave., Mashpee; followed by a Memorial Mass at 12 NOON in Christ The King Parish, 3 Jobs Fishing Rd., Mashpee.
