I was recently asked if in my 50´s I could name my favorite elementary teacher prompting me to not only name Mrs Furlong in that discussion, but to Google her. I see it has been some time since she passed but she was the best, she read Where the Red Fern Grows to us, and was my lifeline when I was bullied in elementary school. She was also an exceptional educator and they don´t make them like her very often, then or now. I will never forget her . Rest In Peace in the arms of God, beautiful giving spirit.

Mrs. Furlong,
Maam, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USN during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Mrs. Furlong was my fourth grade teacher. She was also my favorite. She also wrote us a special poem after the school year had ended, with all the kids names mentioned. I wish I still had it. I hardly ever get the paper, but I did last night, and I recognized the name right away. My deepest sympathies.

I taught with Ida at the Hobomock School. Ida was a caring, dedicated teacher. Many students were blessed to have her as an educator. May the pleasant memories of happy times shared with Ida help to ease your pain and sorrow. My deepest sympathy to all of you.
