I would first like to thank everyone for their kind words and actions of support during the difficult times on behalf my brothers Lisa and the whole Conroy family. All of you who knew our father, knew how special of a DAD he really was. Words cannot describe how incredibly saddened I feel to lose such a tremndous mentor, confidant, dad, grandfather, and true friend that my father was. He has set a true example to me of what father should be. I miss him more and more each day but am truely fond of the memories he gave us. I LOVE YOU DAD

I was so sorry to hear of Mel's death. I worked with him many years ago when he was running the Special Desegregation Measures Unit in the Boston Public Schools. He was always trying to improve the program to benefit the kids. He taught me a lot about trying to do the right thing.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.

My dad had such admiration and respect for Mel. I grew up listening to stories of Mel's hardware stores, how his students in school just adored him and how his fellow teachers really liked him, and his patriotism, honor, and love of family.

I had met Mel a few times when visiting my dad at the Dante Alighieri School in East Boston. I was impressed with Mel's warmth and kindness. When my dad was in the hospital recovering from heart bypass surgery, Mel was there. My wife met him at the time, and she remarked to me how kind Mel was. He genuinely cared about people.

I am very sorry for your loss, and I am sorry I was not able to attend his service and meet his family and friends.

To the Conroy family, I want to extend my deepest sympathy. I replaced your father when he retired from the Alighieri, but also had the pleasure of working with him for a few years before he retired. I admired his passion for teaching U.S. History and his passion for the Teacher's Union. He was a great role model and will be sorely missed.
With deepest sympathy,

I knew Mel during the time I kept my boat at Simms in Humarock. I know how much his family meant to him. He was so proud when one of his boys built him some steps so he could easier board "My Three Sons." He was a good guy. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Mel taught me about the power and the wonder of being a teacher in BPS and also about what it meant to be a part of the union. We sat and listened to Irish music on the back of my sisters boat as he told me how much he loved his family. Rest in peace Mel-

I'd like John, Melvin Jr, Jason and their families to know I'm thinking about them. I'd also like to say that Uncle Mel always made me laugh, and in my final memory of him, some years ago at a party in Abington, he was a man, at heart, half as young as his years.

Mel's boys....Corey and I will forever hold your dad in our hearts. He was the greatest of neighbors on the point in Scituate, always tolerating Corey coming over for a visit, Corey was just a little kid then, but, your dad never minded the busy little kid from next door coming down the seawall with his squirt guns or a new truck to show off, and talk your dad's ear off. He will be missed by all his friends on the point.

As cousins, Melvin and I shared a very special bond starting from childhood at our grandmothers house. He was hardworking, kind, loving, and a caring person who was devoted to his friends and family. He was not only my cousin, but a close friend that I dearly loved. My husband, Fred and I were looking forward to Lisa and his visit with us this winter. His loss is too painful to think about right now. God has gained a great guy.
