To Mom, Laurie, Steven, Patty, and Eddie,
My deepest sympathies go out to all of you. I also have fond memories of Gramp that I will treasure forever. I loved visiting him and Nan in good ole Plaistow NH. Gramp with his crosswords greeting me as "Mim" and I didn't want to hurt his feelings by correcting him and letting him know it was "Min". Nan was busy cooking or making us tea. I sure do miss those times and I often miss just being a kid with my best buddy Laurie. Times sure do change but great memories will stay in my heart forever. Miss and love you all.

Hi Pat, so sorry for your loss, hearing your family talk about your dad I can honestly say it sounds like the apple did not fall far from the tree in your case!! May your great memories help you and your family in these tough days.

Mom called and told me Gramp had passed today. He had a full life and was not enjoying good health for the past few years. I hope he is going to meet Nana and having a beautiful reunion. I remember Gramp playing catch with me in the side yard on Main Street, throwing the ball into his well worn and seemingly giant catcher's mitt. He would nod with approval everytime I made a good pitch and shake his hand to let me think I had thrown it hard. Gramp taught me how to break in my own baseball glove, how to tie it tight with a baseball inside and rub the oil into the palm so it would age well. As we aged I saw him less frequently except for seeing each other over holidays and special occassions. We watched football games on Thanksgiving and Red Sox games during the pennant race. After Nana passed away I think something was lost within Gramp as well and his life took on a different meaning. I loved him and remember him as being gentle, never critical and he enjoyed yardwork, crossword puzzles and spending time at the lake. He would enjoy frequent naps in his chair next to the window where he could look out upon the lake. I loved seeing him there; it gave me the feeling of home. I am so pleased that Emma got to meet him a few months ago and hope they remember each other. I miss him very much. Love you All, Steve

Needless to say my grandfather was a very special man. I remember my grandmother telling me that she still got butterflies in her stomach when he walked into a room. She thought he was as handsome as the first day she ever laid eyes on him! Hearing them tell stories of how they met and surviving through the depression was always fascinating to me. I still shut my lights off and keep the heat way too low because of them :)
I also loved being at the lake with them. My fondest memories are up there in the summer, Gramp in his funny hat meticulosly picking weeds off the lawn and Nana in the kitchen with her apron on. I truly hope they are together again happily looking down on us. Every relationship should be that special and I will forever remember them both with nothing but love. PS...Skippy will be with them too on their long walks.
With Love,
Your 1st grandaughter
Laurie
