William O'Mara Obituary

William A. O'Mara NORWELL William A. O'Mara, 80 of Norwell, formerly of Quincy died suddenly Nov. 25, 2008 at South Shore Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving family. Bill was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked for many years at the Fore River Ship Yard before becoming a Quincy Firefighter in 1965. He retired from the Q.F.D. in 1990. He was a member of the Town River Yacht Club for many years and enjoyed boating and fishing. He was a former member of the Weymouth Eagles for many years. Mr. O'Mara was an avid sports fan of the Patriots and Red Sox. Beloved father of Kathleen Guido and her husband Joseph of Norton, Doreen Parker and her husband Robert of Braintree, William O'Mara of Bridgewater, and Paula O'Mara of Quincy. Former husband and good friend of Paula (Shea) O'Mara of Quincy. Brother of Joan Steidle of FL, Jean Chipman of Norwell, Nancy Troy of Norwell and the late George O'Mara, Q.F.D. and Robert O'Mara. Beloved grandfather of Ryan, Kevin and Patrick Parker of Braintree and Matthew Guido of Norton. Companion of many years to Annette Abrams of Norwell. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and his late dog "The Buff" a cherished and faithful friend. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service in in Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Monday at 10:30 AM. Visiting hours Sunday 4-8 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Donations in memory of Mr. O'Mara may be made to MSPCA, 350 S. Huntington Ave., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
