Anna Palmer Walbridge
Quincy Anna Palmer Walbridge beloved educator and friend to many, went to be with the Lord on November 26, 2007. Born March 24, 1918, in Milton, MA, the daughter of the late Robert and Vera (Powell) Palmer, she grew up in Quincy, MA. Anna earned a BA in elementary education from Lyndon State College, Lyndonville, VT. Married at the family home in Post Mills, VT to Howard E. Walbridge from Cabot, VT, she was the devoted sister to the late Dr. Edwin Palmer and his wife "Peter". Anna is lovingly remembered by her three children: Delia Walbridge-Gosik of Poland, Captain Robin/Robert Edwin Walbridge of the Tall Ship HMS Bounty and Peter Zior Jansen with his wife Lucille Walbridge Jansen of Vermont. She was the cherished grandmother of five grandchildren in Tylicz, Poland. She was a longtime member of Park Street Church in Boston, actively volunteering in their Benevolent Womens Society; where she also donated countless hours to their FOCUS program as their first ESL teacher. She has most recently attended Glad Tidings Church in Quincy. For several years Mrs. Walbridge taught first through fourth grades in a two-room schoolhouse in Middlesex, VT, where at one time, much to the students delight, she maintained a newborn lamb on his two hour feeding schedule. Annas intense love of nature and Gods creation was rewarded by a national grant for teaching science in the classroom, which was used while teaching first grade at the Watson School in Braintree, MA. Family and friends are invited to attend an open house 4-8 p.m. at her home on December 11, 2007. Her home going service will be December 13, 2007 at Glad Tidings, 158 Washington St., Quincy at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Anna's memory may be sent to the Park Street Church, Scholarship fund for FOCUS, 1 Park St., Boston, MA 02108.
