Ethel Steele Obituary

STEELE, Ethel C.
Of Waverly, NY
Was born November 29, 1930 in Indiana, PA, the daughter of the late Floyd Daniel and Clarissa (Tyger) Burger and passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2008, at the Robert Packer Hospital at the age of 77. She is survived by her loving children, Pamela (Ronald) Wolfe of Orlando, FL, Carl D. (Margaret) Propeck of Goldbar, Washington, Rita (Brett) Southard of Middlebury Center, PA; along with 12 adored grandchildren, two much loved great-grandchildren; beloved sister, Barbara Burger of Waverly, NY. Ethel retired from the Chemung County Transit System as bookkeeper after several years of dedicated service. She was an avid bowler and participated in the WIBC for 25 years. She was devoted to the NYS Women's Bowling Association and was a charter member for 40 years, never missing a bowling tournament. She will be deeply missed by all. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY 14904 on Thursday, March 27, 2008, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services honoring her life will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. Lay Pastor John P. Knapp will celebrate Ethel's service. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in the Vaughn Cemetery, Mehoopany, PA. A "Candle of Remembrance" may be left for her family in obituaries at www.olthof.com.
