I first met Rick about 7 years ago when we were introduced though a mutual friend who asked if Rick could travel with us to an archery tournament in Cleveland, Oh. That chance meeting grew into a strong friendship. Rick and I, usually accompanied by another friend Dan Williams traveled all over this country competing on the various national tournament circuits. We went to Florida, Texas, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, Ohio, West Virginia, Michigan and many, many local shoots. Rick was an amazing person who had a sharp wit, great sense of humor, a kind heart and strong sense of what was right and wrong. He was dependable and trustworthy and knew how to be a good friend. He was very well liked by all who knew him and he made friends easily. He was well respected and well liked by other professional archers who knew him. I have lost a great friend. I will miss Rick and never forget the great times we have had. I know Rick will be me with at every tournament. To Kim, Brad and Kari...my deepest and most profound sympathy goes out to you. Rick loved his family above all, was a wonderful husband and loving father.

Kim, Brad, Carrie, and Aunt Darla, Although we can't be there for you right now, know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. God must have needed Rick and Uncle Ted to deliver a special load for Him. We love you all.

I first met Rick on a Potter County hillside that happened to have a gobbler or two on it. As we stood there talking turkey, a gobbler sounded off about 150 yards away. We both looked at each other, and decided to flip a coin. Trouble was neither one of us had a coin. So Rick said "Go ahead and have at 'em." And I did. The 11 inch beard from that gobbler hangs above the desk I'm at now. Each time I look at it, I think of Rick.
Rick was a class act and a real benefit to the world we live in. May he rest in peace.
