MAYNARD, John R., Jr.
Formerly of Elmira, NY
Of Paradise, PA, was born November 27, 1965 in Anchorage, AK, the son of John R. and Lynda (Kelly) Maynard, Sr., and passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2008, unexpectedly at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center at the age of 42. His father, John; paternal grandfather, John S. Carr; and maternal grandfather, Stuart "Larry" Kelly predeceased him. John is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Carrie (Shoemaker) Maynard of Paradise, PA; beloved children, Christopher, Anthony, Ashley, Matthew and Sydney; mother, Lynda Limoncelli of Elmira, NY; brother, Michael (Kim) Maynard and their children, Corey, Mallorie and Bailey, all of Elmira, NY; sisters, Stacy Maynard and her son, Sean of Hanover, MA; Kelly (Mark) Smith and their children, Abigail, Ethan and Carter of Elmira, NY; paternal grandmother, Jeanne Carr and maternal grandmother, Jennie Kelly both of Elmira, NY; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. John was presently employed at RR Donnelly & Sons in Lancaster, PA as a dedicated binder operator. He was a member of the American Legion Bentley Post # 443 of Elmira. He was a diehard New York Yankees fan, a devoted Miami Dolphins fan and a NASCAR enthusiast following # 48 Jimmy Johnson. In his earlier years, John enjoyed the many fishing trips with his father and other family members. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, July 26, 2008, at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Lay Pastor John P. Knapp will celebrate the services for John. The Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Military Honors following the services for Mr. Maynard. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in the Ashland Cemetery, Wellsburg, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to a Trust Fund for his beloved children in his memory. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home. A "Candle of Remembrance" may be left for his family in obituaries at www.olthof.com.
