My mother Lydia was a sympathetic and hardworking individual. she worked around the clock doing house chores, preparing meals for her 12 children. She was an attribute and a great contributor to her husband Bernard who always could rely on her support and blessing. Her daughters Brina and Risa had a special place in her heart. Her five boys were very fond of there mother and enjoyed her company every moment.

Lydia Howlette Berman, my mother, was very observant of the Jewish Sabbath. She enjoyed the Sabbath's serenity and holiness every week, lighting the Sabbath candles, praying, and studying the Torah. Over the years, I had plethora international affairs/political discussions with my Mom; she was both interested in and learned about world affairs. Both my Mom and Father influenced me and my children, Andy and Micah, to serve the American people, as soldiers. My Mom watched as Andy, Micah, and I were all deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, since 9/11. We will continue to serve. Through the years, my boys and I tried to give back to Mom all that she gave to us through her actions. My Mom's biggest dream and goal, after the death of my father, was to spend out the rest of her life where she was happiest with her family -- on the Southside, at 1150 Broadway. Unfortunately, she was never able to achieve this significant quality of life endeavor. My Mom never valued materialism; rather, integrity, dignity, and honesty. I will miss my Mom dearly.

Lydia Berman was my grand mother. Not having an opportunity to see her in past years makes this time is especially difficult. I hope that the family can find comfort. My deepest sympathies to my mother and to the entire Berman family.

My mother was a great woman who thought about others before herself. she frequently attended to her elderly children and gave them there basic needs like food and shelter when they needed it. she also was there for her grandchildren and provided them with much comfort.
