TRAINOR, Gale E.
Age 67, of Elmira, NY. He was born January 2, 1941 in Ellenville to Thomas J. and Ruth (Boynan) Trainor, and passed away Saturday, August 16, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas; and is survived by his wife, Patricia Rybak-Trainor; children and their spouses, Kathe and Bill Washburn and Colleen Cassidy-Nordin, all of Elmira, Kerry Cassidy of Washington, DC, Kelly and Rich Raiche and Carole Cassidy, all of Boston, MA; grandchildren, Brittany Cassidy of Boston, MA, Chad and Kassie Nordin, both of Horseheads; mother, Ruth W. Trainor of Greeley, CO; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Jean Trainor of Eatonton, GA, Wayne and Karen Trainor of Greeley, CO, John and Winona Trainor of Savannah, GA; along with several nieces and nephews. Gale retired from the Elmira Correctional Facility as a Corrections Officer after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was an avid bird watcher. Family and friends are invited to his memorial service on Saturday, September 6, 2008, at 11 a.m. in Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira. Rev. Dr. Larry Appenzellar will officiate. Interment will take place in Woodlawn National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Gale through donations to the Chemung County Humane Society, 2435 State Route 352, Elmira, NY 14903; or the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, 945 County Route 64, Elmira, NY 14903.
