Died at her home on Wednesday, September 3, 2008. Mary was born on November 30, 1913, in Morris Run, PA, a daughter of John and Victoria Paluch Tacka. She is predeceased by her parents; husbands, Louis Fadale and Nicholas DeLauro, Sr.; son, Nicholas DeLauro, Jr.; sister, Catherine Baker; and brother, Val Tacka. Mary is survived by her daughters, Victoria Shafer of Horseheads, and Ann Sherwood of Elmira; daughter-in-law, Carole DeLauro of Troy, PA; sister, Ann Forsythe of Elmira; sister-in-law, Betty Fadale of Elmira; grandchildren, Gordon Shafer, Karen (Wes) Pye, Ryan (Michelle) Shafer, James (Michelle) Sherwood, Jr., Walter (Amy) Klumpe, Ashley (Michael) Payne, Mark (Cathy) DeLauro, Mathew DeLauro, and Disa DeLauro; 14 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. Mary was retired from Bendix Corp. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Friday, September 5, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 6, 2008, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Donations in Mary's memory may be directed to either Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 E. Corning Road, Corning, NY 14830; or Chemung County SPCA, Route 352, Elmira, NY 14903. Mary's family would like to extend a special thank you to Southern Tier Hospice, and Carol, Nicol, Mimi, Lois, and Rebecca for the wonderful care given to Mary over the past few months.
