HENDRICK, Howard C. "Howie"
Age 86, of Dundee, NY died Friday, September 5, 2008, at Schuyler Hospital, in Montour Falls, NY. Friend's may call from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 9) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee where a funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Anitra Price officiating. Burial will be private in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. Memorial contributions may be made to Dundee Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837. Howard was born April 24, 1922 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Charles C. and Helen Hathaway Hendrick. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1940. In 1948, he married the former Ida Patricia "Pat" Dencenburg; she passed away on Dec. 19, 1971. A farmer in his younger years, he was the owner of the former Hendrick's Red and White in Wayne, NY. He worked part time for over 20 years at the Wayne Trading Post Marina, and retired after 29 years with Shepard-Niles of Montour Falls, in 1984. Mr. Hendrick was a member of the Dundee Baptist Church; a longtime member of the Watkins Glen Elks Lodge #1546, a former member of the Mechanic´s Club of Montour Falls, and was a past member of the Wayne Fire Dept. A dedicated Yankee Baseball fan, he was an avid sportsman in his younger years, and enjoyed woodworking in his later years. He is loved and will be dearly missed by two sons Rick M. (Beth) Hendrick of Beaver Dams, Ray C. Hendrick of Monterey; his loving daughter Tara S. Boudinot with whom he made his home for the last 27 years; four grandchildren Hiedi L. Allison, Danielle M. Hendrick, Raymond Thomas "RT" Hendrick, Peggy Lynn Hendrick; a great-granddaughter Marley Rose Allison-McAvoy; a sister Marcia Hendrick Hathaway of Dundee; dear friend Caroline Stalter; numerous nieces, and nephews, all the patrons of the Crossing Diner; his beloved pets, and the many care givers whom he loved and the family is forever thankful for.
