George Richardson Obituary

RICHARDSON, George Henry
Age 78, of 1196 Bell Hill Road, Painted Post, died Monday, September 8, 2008, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira. George was born in Corning on December 18, 1929, the son of the late Floyd Henry and Bernice (Gurnsey) Richardson. He graduated from Northside High in Corning, class of 1947. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 21 years as a Communications Specialist and was later employed by Corning Glass, where he was in maintenance. George was a member of the Corning Moose Club and the Corning V.F.W. He enjoyed hunting and crossword puzzles. He is survived by two sons, George "Joe" (Renee) Richardson of Alfred Station, NY, and Steven Richardson of Brockport, NY; a sister, Alice (Edwin) R. Welch of Horseheads, NY; a brother, Floyd (Linda) C. Richardson of Wellsville, NY; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and five nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by longtime companion, Shirley Ryan; a son, Martin Richardson; and daughter-in-law, Paulette Richardson. Friends are invited to a funeral service on Thursday, September 11th, at 1 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney Street in Corning, with Rev. Gary DeHaas officiating. Burial will be in Coopers Plains Cemetery, Painted Post. Memorials may be directed to American Lung Association - Finger Lakes Region, 1595 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620.
