Age 86 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Sunday September 14, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira, NY. Edward was born on April 26, 1922 in Southerinton, CT the son of the late Vincent and Josephine Novakowski. Mr. Novakowski married his wife Polly R. Jones Novakowski on April 25, 1942 and they recently celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary. He was a Veteran of WWII serving his country with the U.S. Army Air Force. Edward was a retired custodian for the Central Islip Hospital in Islip, L.I., NY and South Fork High School in Stewart, Florida. He was pre-deceased by his son James Novakowski in July 2001; his daughter Donna Waters in October 2000 and 7 brothers. Mr. Novakowski is survived by his wife Polly R. Jones Novakowski; sons and daughter-in-law: Edward and Janie Novakowski of Ocala, Florida and Bruce Novakowski with the U.S. Navy; daughter-in-law: Cindy (Mrs. James) Novakowski of Maine; grandchildren: Michael, Michelle, Jessie Novakowski and Fiala Waters; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Leonard and Joan Jones of PA; Florence Kaiser of Springfield, MO; Thelma and James Gibson of Lake George, NY; Patricia and George Cipoletti of Horseheads, NY; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Lynch Funeral Home 318 West Broad Street Horseheads, NY on Tuesday September 16, 2008 from 6-8 PM. Mr. Novakowski's Funeral Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 8PM with the Rev. Donald Ewell officiating. Calling hours and Funeral Services will be held at Forest Hills Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 2001 S.W. Murphy Road in Palm City, Florida on Friday September 19, 2008 where Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Novakowski.
