Donna Stanton Obituary

STANTON Donna C.
Age 86 of 116 East Eighth Street Elmira Heights, NY passed away on Monday September 15, 2008 at home surrounded by her loving family. Donna was born December 19, 1921 in Athens, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Donald T. and Grace Granger Lilley. She married her husband, William G. Stanton, on June 6, 1943 and they celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary on June 6, 2008. Mrs. Stanton was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was loved by everyone whose lives she touched. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Elmira, NY. Mrs. Stanton was a 25 year member and Past Grand Counselor of United Commercial Travelers. Donna was a avid reader and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and doing crossword puzzles. She was pre-deceased by her parents and her brother Thomas Lilley. Mrs. Stanton was a retired Optical Technician at Winchester Optical Company in Elmira, NY. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 65 years William G. Stanton; loving son and daughter-in-law: Bruce & Diane Stanton of Horseheads, NY; loving daughter and son-in-law: Brenda & Ted Trowbridge of Attleboro, Massachusetts; beloved granddaughters: Heather Trowbridge and Tricia Trowbridge both of Attleboro Massachusetts; brother and sister-in-law: Robert & Cathy Lilley of Independence, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Lynch Funeral Home 318 West Broad Street Horseheads, NY on Friday September 19, 2008 from 5-8 PM. Mrs. Stanton's Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday September 20, 2008 at 10 AM with Father William C. Lutz officiating. Interment in Chemung Cemetery in Chemung, NY. The family will provide their own flowers and those wishing may remember Mrs. Stanton through memorials to Trinity Episcopal Church 304 North Main Street Elmira, NY 14901 or to Southern Tier Hospice 11751 East Corning Road Corning, NY 14830.
