Gladys Spiak Obituary
Age 95, formerly of Lowman, NY. She was born March 3, 1913 in Elmira, daughter of the late Wells and Veva (Wood) Wood, and passed away Thursday, September 18, 2008, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. She was predeceased by her husband, William B. Spiak; son, John Arthur Spiak; grandson, Steven William Spiak; granddaughter, Bonnie Carey; sons-in-law, Charles Robert Hart and Thomas James Helstrom; daughter-in-law, Barbara Spiak; and is survived by her children, Gladys Hart of Horseheads, William and Lorraine Spiak of Columbia Crossroads, PA, Richard Duane Spiak of Elmira, Mary and Merill Morgan, Jr. of Erin, and Roseanna and David Truesdale of Horseheads; 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Andy Spiak of Watervliet, NY; sister-in-law, Mary Trimm of Cohoes, NY; along with several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Spiak retired from the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira, on Friday, September 19th, from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Her funeral service will be held there on Saturday, September 20th, at 10 a.m. Rev. William Wells will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
