Arthur Watson Obituary

WATSON, Arthur S., Jr.
85, of Galeton, PA, died on Thursday, September 25, 2008. Born October 25, 1922 in Ridgway, PA, he was a son of the late Arthur S. Sr. and Anna (Walker) Watson. Mr. Watson was a Veteran, having served with the United States Army Corps of Engineers in New Guinea during World War II. On July 12, 1946 in Bradford, PA, he married the former Wilhelmina Devling, who survives. After returning from the war, Art worked for South Penn Oil Company in Bradford and then retired from Devling Brothers, Inc. in Galeton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. He was proud that he had bowled a 300 game at the Galeton Moose Lanes. Surviving, besides his wife, are a brother-in-law, Robert (Betty Jo) Devling, Galeton; sisters-in-law, Patricia Klotz, S. Williamsport, PA, Mary and Betty Devling, Galeton; a cousin, Ruth Perantoni, Woolrich, PA; nieces, Wendy Warren, Gainesville, FL, Patricia Gleason, Queensbury, NY, and Cheryl Ross, Ocala, FL; a nephew, Michael Watson; special nieces, Barbara (Dennis) Smoley, Susan (David) Karvonen, and Holly Klotz; special nephews, Stephen (Brenda) Devling and James (Madonna) Devling; and great-nieces, Megan and Melissa Smoley, and Ashley and Sophia Devling. In addition to his parents, Art was predeceased by a brother, Jack Watson; and a sister, Betty Chitester. Friends may call Monday, September 29, 2008, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Hess Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Collins Chapel, Galeton, PA. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Dougherty officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Goodyear Hose Company Rescue Truck.
