In Loving Memory Of…
WATLOCK, Helen K.
89 years, formerly of 364 West Second St., and more recently she had resided at the Rustic Dreams Private Care Home, died Friday, September 26, 2008, at Corning Hospital with her family at her side. She was born October 26, 1918 in Corning, NY the daughter of the late John and Suzanne Banik Kozey. A lifetime resident of Corning, receiving her education in Corning and also later in life her real-estate license. Helen and George Watlock, Jr. were married June 7, 1941 in Kingston, PA. He predeceased her April 5, 1986. She became employed with Corning Glass Works at a very early age and worked as an inspector and laboratory technician in the Lab Department, retiring in 1981 with over 74 years service with the company. Following her retirement from Corning Inc. she pursued real-estate sales and enjoyed serving the local people. Helen was a very active member of St. Mary's Orthodox Church in Corning and the ACRY of the church, a member of Local 1000, past member of the National Association of Realtors and also the Elmira/Corning Board of Realtors. She enjoyed bowling and was an avid member of the Crystal City Women's Bowling League. Helen was a very loving and giving person and cared for not only her family but so many others. Her concerns and compassion will truly be missed by those that she touched. She is survived by her Daughter, Nancy Gabel of Hammondsport, NY., Grandson, Christopher E. Gabel (Stacy Koup) of Corning, NY. Brother, Charles (Vicky) Kozey of Corning, NY., Sisters in law, Helen Nitsche and Ann (Al) Quattrini all of Corning, NY. Several Nieces and Nephews, special friend and neighbor, Miggie De Blasio (her shopping and traveling companion). Her care giving families, Gloria and Bob Lymber and children; Garret and Kyle and Debbie and Joe Caputo and children; Nicholas and Joseph. She was predeceased by Sisters, Mary Tostanoski, Sue Hagedish and Ann Mulaski Crosetto and Brother, John Kozey, Jr. Friends may call at the Haughey Funeral Home 216 E. First St., Corning, NY. Monday September 29, 2008 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with Parastas Service at 7 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be held Tuesday September 30, 2008 St. Mary's Orthodox Church, Corning, NY at 10 a.m. Rev. Stephen Loposky celebrant. Committal Prayers and Interment will be at the family plot in St. Mary's Orthodox Cemetery, Corning, NY. The family would appreciate Memorial Donations be given in Helen's name to St. Mary's Orthodox Church, 7 E. Chatfield Place, Painted Post, NY 14870 or American Cancer Association, 1316 College Avenue, Elmira, NY 14901 or the Charity of One's Choice.
