Age 69 of Elmira Heights, NY passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday October 5, 2008 surrounded by her loving family after a 13 year battle with cancer. RoseMarie was born February 22, 1939 in Bradford, PA the daughter of the late Ernest Louis Richards and Catherine Quinn Richards. RoseMarie met the love of her life, future husband and best friend at the Friday Nighters at the tender age of 13, where they really hit it off. They were engaged 3 years later and she married Ken on February 25, 1956, just 3 days after her 17th birthday. They recently celebrated their 52nd Wedding Anniversary at a dinner out with their children and grandchildren at a favorite family restaurant. RoseMarie held several jobs in her early years; including working at "The Sugar Bowl" but her favorite "jobs" were that of wife and mother. Though it took many years to complete their family, RoseMarie was a loving though strict influence in the raising of many children, from nieces and nephews to friends' kids - to drum corps, band, baseball, bowling, and campus life and let's not forget all those neighborhood kids she bandaged, fed, and carted around in "Mom's Taxi". RoseMarie was a communicant of St. Cecelia's Church in Elmira, NY and a member of the Horseheads Women of The Moose # 1832 where she was a very active volunteer for many years and even earning the highest degree in the organization. Rose Marie was pre-deceased by her parents Ernest Louis Richards and Catherine Elizabeth Quinn Richards; parents-in-law Edwin Kenneth Egan and Thelma Ethel Egan; brother Michael Edward Richards; sisters Rita Joann Redder and Grace Agnes Richards and her brother-in-law Robert Lovell. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Edwin Kenneth Egan at home; daughter Dawn(Terry) Bliss of Elmira, NY; son: James ( Becky) Egan of Elmira Heights, NY; grandchildren: Catherine Rose Bliss, Sherry Eileen Egan (Latney Porter), Jesse Lee Egan, Nicholas James Egan, and Kendra Nicole Bliss; great granddaughter: Kristena Louise Porter; Brother: Robert Ernest (Olga) Richards of Hinkley, CA; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Roena Lovell of Elmira, NY and Paul ( Ruby) Egan of Millport, NY and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends. Gramma/Aunt Rose was the back-bone of this family that she put first and fore-most above all else. She will be greatly missed and remembered by all. The family would like to thank all the wonderful angels who gave such loving care to RoseMarie in her final days and hours. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Lynch Funeral Home 318 West Broad Street Horseheads, NY on Thursday October 9, 2008 from 6-9 PM. The Horseheads Women of The Moose Ritual Team will hold a memorial service on Thursday at the Funeral Home at 8:30 P M for their departed Co-Worker RoseMarie. Mrs. Egan's Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday October 10, 2008 at 10 AM. Interment in ST. Peter & Paul's Cemetery in Elmira, NY.
