Carolyn Purvis Obituary
Of Horseheads, NY
Passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2008, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center at the age of 67. She was born December 2, 1940 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late Clayton and Alta (Reeves) Oslager. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Leland "Bob" Purvis of Horseheads, NY; beloved children, Jeannine (Michael) Mouzon of Elmira Heights, NY, Roberta (Jay) Hulse of Leadore, ID, Leland Purvis of Spokane, WA, Kent (Melissa) Purvis of Saginaw, TX, Leslie (VaLynn) Purvis of Los Alomos, NM, Jeffrey (Michele) Purvis of Elmira, NY, Danielle Hricko of Elmira, NY; 26 adored grandchildren; sister, Norma (Ernie) Chaapel of Gillett, PA; brother, Daniel (Lee) Oslager, also of Gillett, PA; along with several nieces and nephews. Carolyn enjoyed doing handwork and spending her time with family. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Horseheads, NY. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Thursday, October 9, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, October 10th, from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1060 West Broad Street, Horseheads, NY. Funeral services celebrating Carolyn's life will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 1316 College Ave., Elmira, NY 14901 or to the Falck Cancer Center, 600 Roe Ave., Elmira, NY 14905 in her memory. Kim and I only have wonderful memories of the Purvis family. We have missed all are friends at the Horseheads Ward since we moved, and we have never forgotten how kind Sister Purvis was when we first arrived in the ward.
