George Alve Obituary

ALVE, George W.
Age 85, of Spencer, died Thursday, October 09, 2008, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA. He was born in Newfield, NY, April 19, 1923, the son of the late Ripert and Vera (Westerlund) Alve. George is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jean Seely Alve; two sons, Carl (Glenda) Alve, Spencer, and David Alve, Plano, TX; three grandchildren, Hilary (Shane) Zavaski, Spencer, Seth (Merrit) Alve, Richardson, TX, Chelsey Alve, Dallas, TX; five great-grandchildren, Danielle, Alex, Zoe, Ki, Shyla, all of Spencer; brother, Elno (Edna) Alve, Spencer; sister, Violet Grey, Gloversville, NY; nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by two grandsons, James Douglas Alve and Carl Edward Alve, Jr.; three brothers, Waino, Vertner, William; two sisters, Verna Silvoininen and Viena Ketola. George was a member of Faith Bible Chapel, Finger Lakes Finns, Spencer Fire Department, served on Spencer Town Board, and Penny Promenaders Square Dance Club. A memorial service will be held at Faith Bible Church in Spencer on Sunday, October 12, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Clarence Windnagle officiating. Interment is in La Row Cemetery, North Van Etten, NY. Memorials may be directed to Faith Bible Chapel; or one's charity. Arrangements are provided by Allen-Manzer Funeral Home.

Jean, Carl, David- Was sorry to hear of your loss. George was a very dear person. He was very sweet and kind to everyone that knew him. I remember him dearly when I was young and would spend times either helping with farm chores, or square dancing and his kind smile or encouraging words. he will surely be missed.
