SWAN James E.
Age 81 of Horseheads, NY went to be with his Lord on Thursday October 9, 2008. Jim was born October 5, 1927 in Horseheads, NY the son of the late Fred and Mary Jane Washington Swan. He married his wife Mary E. Eccles Swan on June 11, 1970 and they recently celebrated their 38th Wedding Anniversary. Jim was a retired truck driver with Delmont Trucking Company of Elmira, NY and member of Teamsters' Local # 529. He also worked at Horwitz Paper Company and JoAnn Fabrics in Horseheads, NY. Mr. Swan was a member of The First Baptist Church of Horseheads and a former member of The Horseheads Retired Lions Club. Jim was pre-deceased by his parents; his son James Edward Swan; his brothers Fred Swan, William Swan, and John Swan; his sisters Marion Swan Thompson and Winifred Swan Berhannan. Mr. Swan enjoyed electronics, tinkering, and doing small engine repairs. Jim loved his family and friends and cherished the time he spent with them. Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife Mary E. Eccles Swan; daughters and sons-in-law: Yvonne Swan Steele & Jerry Steele of Owens Mills, Maryland, Linda Swan Spence & Quinton Spence of Norfolk, Virginia, and Sheila & James Shanberger of Greensboro, NC; sons and daughters-in-law: Anthony Brooks of Greensboro, NC and Reginald & Patrice Brooks of Harrisburg, PA; grandchildren: Michelle Steele, Renee Spence, Tiffany Spence, Nicole Spence, Sean Edwards, Courtney Brooks, Jordan Brooks, Roberts Brooks, and Yani Brooks; sister-in-law: Evelyn (Mrs. John) Swan of Horseheads, NY; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends including a special nephew Michael Berhannan. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Lynch Funeral Home 318 West Broad Street Horseheads, NY on Monday October 13, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mr. Swan's Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday October 14, 2008 at 11 AM at The First Baptist Church of Horseheads 2293 Grand Central Avenue Horseheads, NY. Pastor Robert Finch will officiate. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY. The Family will provide their own flowers and those wishing may remember Jim through memorials to The First Baptist Church of Horseheads 2293 Grand Central Avenue Horseheads, NY 14845.
