Jane Alling Obituary

ALLING, Jane Louise (Shirley)
Jane Alling, 84, of Montour Falls, NY, died peacefully, after an extended illness on October 7, 2008. She was born in Geneva, NY, the daughter of Harrison B. and Emma L. Shirley. Jane was a graduate of Waterloo High School and Tompkins County Hospital School of Practical Nursing. She retired from Schuyler Hospital after 41 years of devoted service. Jane was a volunteer at the Montour Falls Library and Schuyler Hospital Gift Shop. In addition, she was a Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout den mother, as well as a quilter, knitter and avid soccer fan. Jane was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Vernon W. Alling, Jr.; her brothers, John and Harrison Shirley; and son, Stephen Alling. She is survived by her daughters, Linda and Cynthia; her sons, James, Robert, Paul (Yvonne), and Edward; grandchildren, Jason, Erin, Sarah, James, Jamie, Leah, Nicholas, Annika, Makenzi, Krynn, Zachariah; great-granddaughter, Kierstan; and loving nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Graveside services will be held November 2, 2008 at the convenience of the family in the Montour Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Vedder & Scott Funeral Home, Montour Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of one's choice. We love you more, Mom.
