Margaret VanAlstyne Obituary
Margaret M.
Age 78, of Hillview Dr., Big Flats, and formerly a longtime resident of both Auburn and Florida, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at the Chemung Co. Nursing Facility. Family and friends are invited to call at the First Baptist Church of Horseheads, 2293 Grand Central Ave., Horseheads, on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, from 2-3:00 p.m., where her service will follow in church at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Finch officiating. Interment to take place at a later date in Woodlawn National Cemetery. Those wishing may remember Margaret with memorials to Horseheads Christian School, 2293 Grand Central Ave., Horseheads, NY 14845.

We were good friends as well as fellow teachers as Genesee. I’m happy that I could be at the celebration of her life at a beautiful funeral with her friends and family.

i had mrs.v in kindergarten.I remember her as being very gentle. She gave us her all and to that i am very greatful.auburn has lost a very special teacher.

I remember Mrs. VanAlstyne and exactly where her classroom was 36 years ago. Although I was in Mrs. McDonnellys class , I remember Mrs. V. was a nice lady. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. W. Gen. student

I went to school with you at J-E.
I didn't realize your family resided in Big Flats. I moved out of Horseheads five years ago.
