Aunt Janie, Mary Jane and Nancy, Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Uncle Jim was a great human being and we all remember his kindness. The trips he took us on during his California visits and for the countless hours he saved us by purchasing a dishwasher for our home growing up! We were also grateful for the medical advice we seeked throughout the years. We will surely miss him and God bless you all! The Gallup family.

To the Whitford family: Thank you for allowing me to join you at Dr. Whitford's funeral. You made me feel like part of the family, which eased some pain I am feeling at losing such a fine friend. I met Jim about 10 years ago because of Nancy, and I must tell you my friendship with him has been one of the best things to happen to me. I so enjoyed discussing history, family matters, social/political issues; I had such an absolute trust in his kindness and honesty. I can tell you, from converstations that I had with him, Jim really loved Jane and his family. Despite suffering alot of loss in his life, he demonstrated a steadfast love of his God and church. After meeting Father Frank, I now understand this alot more.... Jim's example will stay with me and I will measure my response to crisis in the future by how I think Jim would have responded. I will stop now, just want to say I will keep all of you in my prayers, and will always keep a very special place in my heart for Jim Whitford. Stephen

Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. Deacon Jim was dear to us;he gave me my first neonatal stethoscope upon my medical school graduation and blessed my husband's St. Christopher medal when he was constantly traveling for work. Even though we lived in Atlanta, whenever we visited Goose Creek and attended Mass with my parents, he always remembered us and greeted us warmly. He will be missed.
