Dorothy McCluskey Obituary

McCLUSKEY, Dorothy Ann
Age 73, of Elmira, died Friday, October 31, 2008, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Dorothy was born in Newark, NJ on May 16, 1935, a daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Cullen McCluskey. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her great-nephew, Cullen Storm. Dorothy is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Cindy McCluskey; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Gary Wheeler, all of Horseheads; nieces and nephews, Colleen and Tim Hassen, Michael and Kim McCluskey, Karen and Michael Storm, Joseph Wheeler with David Biddle, Sara and Alex Lopez, Amanda Wheeler with Aaron Manchester; great-nieces and great-nephews, Trevor, Garrett and Bailey Storm, Kory and Kaylee Hassen; several cousins; and many supportive friends and neighbors. Dorothy was employed at Thatcher Glass for over 30 years. After leaving Thatcher Glass she also worked for Catholic Charities, ARC of Chemung County, and Kinship Homes. She was a member of the Business & Professional Women, National Secretaries Association, and was the 1965 Chemung County Ambassador to Japan. Active in the community, Dorothy volunteered her time with ARC and Southern Tier Hospice and Palliative Care. She was also a long time communicant of St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of Water and Walnut Sts., on Monday, November 3, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Donations in Dorothy's memory may be directed to Southern Tier Hospice and Palliative Care, 11751 E. Corning Road, Corning, NY 14830. Dorothy's family sends a special thank you to the Falck Cancer Center, 4A Medical Staff at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, and Southern Tier Hospice, for their support and wonderful care given to her over the last several months.
