Mary Vanzile

VANZILE, Mary
Age 75, of 1301 Lake St., Elmira, NY, passed away Friday, October 31 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bath, NY, she was the daughter of the late Francis and the late Anna (Morse) Crowl. Mary attended and graduated from schools in the Painted Post area. She married Richard VanZile in 1952 at Ft. Dix, New Jersey. Richard passed away in 1990. Mary enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilt maker, made doll clothes, being with family. Worked for Corning for 30 plus years as a Quality Inspector. Mary is survived by four daughters, Patricia VanZile of Elmira, NY, Sandra (Samuel) Dailey of Monterey, NY, Phyllis VanZile of Elmira, NY, Kathy VanZile of Elmira, NY; and three sons, Richard (Marie) VanZile of Painted Post, NY, Steven (Debra) VanZile of Elmira, NY, Thomas VanZile of Horseheads, NY; 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her sisters, Phyllis Hevner and Christine Gartman; and two brothers, Benjamin Crowl and David Crowl. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Richard; brother, Marshall Crowl; daughter, Jeanne Chapin; and great-grandson, Robert Bilby, Jr. Friends may call Monday November 3 from 11 until 1 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. at Carpenters Funeral Home LLC., 14 E. Pulteney Street, Corning, NY. A funeral service will be held Monday immediately after calling hours. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at Hope Cemetery in Campbell, NY at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Southern Tier Hospice and Palliative Care East Corning Rd., Corning, NY.
