Erma Zimdahl Obituary
Age 89 of Watkins Rd., Pine Valley, NY, passed away on Thurs., Oct. 19, 2007. Mrs. Zimdahl was born Dec. 20, 1917, daughter to the late Err and Harriet (Crouch) Locke. She was predeceased by her husband, George in 1985 and is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roger (Kathy) Zimdahl of Tully, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Priscilla (Art) McGrain of Millport, NY; grandchildren, Gale (Russell) Cornell, Judith (Dennis) Rice, Pam (Dennis Rhynehart) Vonrapacki, Susan (Scott) Martin, Dawn (Brooks) Bellows, Rob (Jennifer) Zimdahl, Tammy Zimdahl, Eugene McGrain, Alexis Zimdahl; 17 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased her brothers and sisters, Dayton Locke, Laura White and Elsie Forest; Charles and Loyd Locke. Erma was a member of Pine Valley United Methodist Church. Active in the Order of the Eastern Star, Erma was a member and past matron of Horseheads Chapter O.E.S and also a member of Elmira Heights Chapter O.E.S. Mrs. Zimdahl was retired from Bendix Eclipse in 1976. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 So. Main St., Horsheads on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, from 3-6:00 p.m. Her service, officiated by the Rev. Carol Keller, will take place Monday at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Millport Cemetery. Notice: Officers and member of Horseheads and Elmira Heights Chapter O.E.S will gather at the Barber Funeral Home, Horseheads on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. to conduct a memorial service for their departed sister.

Aunt Erma was my Great Aunt, on my Dad's side. Although I live out of town now and haven't seen her very often in recent years, I have great memories of Aunt Erma from family gatherings in years past. She was tough but sweet lady and always a hoot to have around. She most certainly will be missed.

I am sad to hear of the passing of Erma. I recall many memories of seeing her in Millport and visiting her in Pine Valley. My thoughts and prayers are with the family today and everyday..

Aunt Erma was my dads (Dale Locke) fathers (Charles Locke) sister. I remember her being sweet and a quiet lady. She never asked for help, but when offered it, she would take it. My prayers are with the family.
