BLOSS, Donald
Age 83, of South Waverly, PA, passed away Thursday, October 25th, 2007, at his home. Born July 23, 1924 in Sayre, PA, the son of the late Ina (Forbes) and Lawrence Bloss; and husband of his beloved wife of 55 years, Phyllis (Johnson) Bloss. Donald was a lifelong resident of the Valley. He served in the United States Navy during WWII both in the Atlantic and the Pacific serving on the USS Nevada as a Seaman First Class. He retired from IBM Corporation in Owego, NY, where he worked as a Photo Lab Technician with over twenty-five years of service. He is a member of Church of the Redeemer in Sayre, PA. He is also a lifetime member of the Waverly Moose Lodge and Lifetimers V.F.W. Post 1536 in Sayre, PA. Donald was an avid golfer and bowler and loved to throw horseshoes. Donald is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Michael Ann (Dan) Wayman, Sayre; his grandchildren, Erin, Courtney, Matthew (Blaire), and Colleen Wayman; his sister, Marilyn (Richard) Doney, Lewes, DE; also sisters-in-law, Ruth Bloss, S. Waverly, Janice Besecker, Sayre, Kathryn Park, Elmira, Jeanne Chevalier, Sayre, Shirley Bloss, Waverly, and Dorothy Johnson of FL. Donald is also survived by his brother-in-law, Richard Johnson of Sayre; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Donald was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Raymond; also brothers-in-law, Thomas Besecker, George Johnson, and Victor Chevalier; and his sister-in-law, Mary Johnson. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 29, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Redeemer, Sayre, PA. Friends are invited to call Sunday, October 28, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Luckner Funeral Home, 449 Park Avenue, Waverly, NY. Interment will follow at Chemung Cemetery. Those wishing may direct memorial donations to either Church of the Redeemer, 201 S. Wilbur Avenue, Sayre, PA 18840; or the charity of their choice.
